EXCLUSIVE
Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price has written to thousands of Australians spruiking far-right disinformation group “Advance”, in a major test for the Liberal Party just one day after its split from the Nationals.
In the mass missive early this morning, Price brags about Advance “smashing the Greens”, and spruiks for support for the US MAGA-style group — so that it can “have real influence on the next election”.
“If it wasn’t for Advance, the Greens would have NINE lower house MPs, instead of just one,” writes Price.
“That’s why I’m asking you to take the step and become and Advance partner with a monthly donation today”.
The Advance email from Price is titled “a personal request”.
Advance aggressively spreads anti-renewable and pro-fossil fuels propaganda — including lies that offshore windfarms are “killing whales” — and runs an arm called “Not Zero”.
Hours after the federal election was called in late March it spread a host of outright lies, including that an ALP minority government would see utes “banned”, immigration “tripled” and that “your family’s inheritance” would be “taxed away”.
Price’s wholesale embrace of the MAGA-style disinformation group presents an early major test for Liberal Party leader Sussan Ley, who is eager to move the party back towards the centre after this month’s electoral wipe-out.
Price deflected to the Liberals just days after the May 3 federal election, having previously sat in Federal Parliament with the Nationals.

Yesterday was announced the Liberal and National Coalition had split, for the first time since the 1980’s, with the Nationals veering even further to the right.
On May 3 Price was re-elected as federal senator for the Northern Territory’s Country Liberal Party (CLP) — which sits with the Nationals in Parliament — but days later defected to the Liberal Party, in failed bid to be appointed its deputy leader.
Price had sought to be deputy to Angus Taylor, but pulled out after he was defeated by Ley as Liberal Party leader.

The US-style populist “MAGA” movement cast a long shadow over the federal election and has been named as a key contributor to the biggest loss in Liberal Party history.
The Coalition under Peter Dutton sought to capitalise on Donald Trump’s November election win, including in January announcing Price would be made shadow minister for government efficiency to cut “wasteful spending”, after Trump announced Musk would head a “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE).
Dutton and the Coalition later sought to backpedal, as the US President’s popularity tumbled and Trumpism increasingly seen as political kryptonite
Yet three weeks before election day, standing alongside Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, Price told an election rally she wanted to “make Australia great again”.
In response, Price said she didn’t “even realise” she made the comments and accused media of being “obsessed” with Donald Trump. Nationals Leader David Littleproud declared it a “slip of the tongue”.
The following day, an image surfaced of Price at Christmas wearing a MAGA cap and holding a miniature Trump.

In her email this morning, Price states that “we need Advance” and that “this is your chance to keep them fighting for us”.
She said the Coalition’s election loss was a “gut punch” but there was “one positive” which was “the success of the Advance campaign” in “smashing the Greens”.
“Let’s make sure this election loss is not the end but the beginning of something bigger, stronger, and more determined than ever,” Price writes.
“So today, I really wanted to talk to you a bit about the importance of taking the next step and becoming an Advance Partner”.

The Liberal Senator calls for people to become part of the Advance “movement” by becoming a “partner”, giving them “incredible behind the scenes access to the frontline fight”, including “exclusive access to quarterly strategy events” and “real campaign polling and strategic briefings”.
“As an Advance Partner, I might even see you at some of their quarterly online events!” writes Price.

Price’s wholesale embrace of Advance today brings forward major questions for Ley and the Liberal Party, including whether they will distance themselves from the disinformation outfit in their bid to regain mainstream voters.
It also puts the spotlight squarely on Price’s role in the party.
“Let’s make sure this election loss is not the end but the beginning of something bigger, stronger, and more determined than ever” — Liberal Senator Jacinta Price
Last financial year, the Liberal Party was Advance’s biggest donor — by a factor of ten — giving it $500,000 via the party’s electoral slush fund the Cormack Foundation.
It was the first time the Liberal Party was disclosed as being a funder of Advance, since the group was formed in 2018.
The Liberal Party has repeatedly to comment when asked about its funding of Advance.

Fronted by Price and prominent Liberal figure Warren Mundine, Advance formed the main “No” campaign against the Indigenous Voice to parliament.
The group aggressively spread lies and disinformation about the referendum and has repeatedly claimed credit for its defeat.
Like Advance, the National Party has aggressively attacked renewables and is pushing for a “nuclear” power roll-out, in a push widely seen as an attempt to prolong fossil fuels.
The Liberal Party’s years-long shift to the right has been cited as a major reason for its electoral defeat.
Under Dutton it entered election preference deals across the nation with Pauline Hanson’s One Nation, in a move seen as further alienating mainstream voters.
Price’s defection to the Liberal Party has raised questions given her MAGA-style activities appear more at home with the increasingly far-right National Party.
Australia is under threat from bad actors seeking to enrich themselves and their vested interests’ backers at the expense of the public.
Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
